The global energy landscape is at the edge of failing us. Unnecessary dependence upon fossil fuels is causing irreparable damage to our environment. 70% of the World’s proven oil reserves are located in the Middle East and North Africa, which continues to exert tremendous strain upon the economics and politics of our society. And the prevailing regulated structure has made it highly difficult to transition from our dependence upon these sources of fuels, and has made it relatively simple for swing players to manipulate the market price. The U.S. National Energy Policy best describes the status of our energy industry, “a fundamental imbalance of supply and demand.”

Accelerating this failure, an infrastructure that is fraught with inadequate design: lacking in functioning transparency and absent sophisticated exchange mechanisms, the grid – as we know it – works to undermine progress and a 21st century quality of life. The business-as-usual case is no longer sufficient to meet the World’s energy needs.

Citizenrē sees, clearly, the short-comings of our antiquated system and has moved forward with investing its time, efforts, and resources to bring about the necessary change.
